The manuscript should be divided into the following sections (in this order): Research articles submitted to Pastoralism should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words, though longer submissions may be considered under exceptional circumstances. Papers may also be in the fields of rangeland, grassland, pasture, livestock or ecological sciences, provided the research is related to how pastoral peoples use and depend upon their environment and livestock in the past or present. Topics of papers can be on past and changing aspects of the culture and society, ecology, economy, and politics of pastoral peoples. Research articles should be aimed one or more of the following readerships: social or natural scientists, development practitioners or policy-makers. The journal investigates pastoralism from a variety of disciplinary perspectives across the biophysical, social and economic sciences. Pastoralism will consider papers describing original research findings in any discipline related to pastoralism world-wide, including within high-income developed countries.
